( NaNoWriMo news )
The trip to Michigan was mainly uneventful. The snow that was predicted didn't fall, so we had nice travelling weather both on the way there and on the way back. We went up on Wednesday and came back on Saturday and barely made it back in time to attend the variety class at Arthur Murray. The class ended up being Salsa styling and it had a mixture of bronze and silver level students, which was very cool. Sarah made it a fun class.

| Thanks for all the memories. |

Had a great holiday weekend. A big thanks goes out to blairhippo for bringing over Car Wars. Especially since it was such a pain to do so. Any more Car Wars gaming should probably be hosted at your house (hope you don't mind if we also bring Karyn and Scott when they do happen).
Saturday was a day spent with Jay. We cleaned the house, since Friday's activities made it a little messy, and did laundry. Most of the day was spent with me reading Silver's Bane. I thought it was cumbersome reading at times, but once I figured out who was who and how they affected the whole, I was fine. Now I want to read the other book in the series explaining how the Caul that was un-made was actually created.
Jay and I also played Wii on Saturday. I tried the "Big Brain Academy" that I rented and found it silly. Now I'm glad I didn't get it, I'd be trading it in for something else. My motto for Wii games is rent before you buy (just like my motto for movies).
On Sunday we went to see the matinee performance of "Avenue Q" with Scott, Karyn and Cyndl. Scott had tickets he had to scalp and we were thought of first. I'm really glad we went to see it. Laughs throughout. Got Jay packed and let the birds out for socialization time.
This morning I got up at 5:00 after going to bed a little after 11. I'm not as tired as I thought I'd be, although I'm pretty sure I'll be turning in early tonight. Time for me to go home! That's what happens when you get to work at 6:30. |

| Boy am I dragging |
[Apr. 25th, 2007|02:13 pm] |
I got home just before midnight last night after a fun night of gaming at
blairhippo's house. There were a total of six of us playing Settlers of Catan (the expanded edition). The game lasted a little over two hours and was lots of fun! Thanks blairhippo for having us over! I'm seriously thinking about getting my own version of one of the Catan games. Does anybody have a recommendation on which one to get? So far I've played Starfarers and Settlers and liked them both. Suggestions welcome!
I'm really dragging right now. I bought a full caffeine beverage thinking that would pick me up, but after a nice filling lunch at Sesame Inn I'm finding it hard to keep my eyes open. Only two hours left of work and I'm dreading every minute of it. |

| Feeling good, even though muscles are sore. |
[Apr. 23rd, 2007|04:02 pm] |
The 4.2 mile hike I took on Saturday was invigorating. It was exhausting, but in a good way. I'm now ready for the next training hike, even though I thought I slowed everyone down. Karyn said it wasn't enough to notice, so I guess it's all right.
On the way back to my house we picked up a cake and a cookie cake for Jay, since his birthday was the next day. We ended up having a nice dinner of grilled chicken, baked potatoes and snow peas. The cake and cookie was eaten while we played Star Munchkin. Fun was had by all!
Next time I hope Jay comes along. I could have used him as backpack carrier for the second mile. The river was high so I ended up getting my foot wet, it dried as I hiked.
Currently my thigh and calf muscles are a tad sore. They were worse yesterday. |

| Frustrations |
[Mar. 15th, 2007|03:22 pm] |
It seems that what was thought of as planned is definitely not. Sleeping arrangements included. Oh well, somehow I think everything will work out. Of course, that is the optimist in me talking.
My car was making noise Tuesday on the way home. It sounded like it was coming from the back, so I didn't mention it to Jay. He heard a pinging noise yesterday and decided to look under the car today. Well, he found that the right front coil spring was broken. The noise I heard wasn't a ping, so that might have just happened. Jay went to Import Export Tire to get all of them replaced since he didn't want to deal with it himself. Don't know how much it cost.
Lynn has to go to Harrisburg to get training next week for the SAP system she works with. I'll be going over to her house to take care of the cats Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to WorD on Tuesday. I might be just dropping off my critique and scooting. *sigh*
Things are getting hairier at work now. I'm trying to make changes to java code that I have to study first to understand. It's slow going. Thankfully I have another 18 hours left on the request. Back to work with me! |

| Busy weekend |
[Mar. 9th, 2007|03:30 pm] |
Do you have days where you're busy all day and then at the end of the day think, "What did I do?" I'm having one of those days at work today. A lot of things are happening, but I feel like nothing is getting accomplished.
This weekend is busy for me. On Saturday I have a morning chiropractor appointment in Greensburg, a Bowl-A-Thon benefitting Junior Achievement from 11-2, then an appointment at Saturn of Monroeville at 3 for the Vue. I'm hoping to get laundry done after getting back from Saturn. As for Sunday I get to go grocery shopping and plan something for dinner. I'm going to be having a voice lesson from 5 to 6 while Jay works on Jim's car and Karyn hangs out at our place. Chicken parm is sounding good right now. I might try my hand at that.
Next weekend is my writer's retreat and I'm still leaning toward taking the full day off instead of a half-day. I desperately need to get some writing done on my novel.
Fertility wise it is day 48 and counting. Haven't taken a pregnancy test yet, probably should. |

| Success! |
[Mar. 6th, 2007|02:57 pm] |
Last Saturday was a looooong day for me. The reason? Because I took keleyat out on a clothing shopping spree. We went to many different stores with a side trip to Saturn because the hazard light switch in the Vue broke away from the console. I pushed it to turn it off and the button kept going in. Not good.

| This past weekend |
[Feb. 26th, 2007|04:07 pm] |
Hubby and I went to see Cabaret with Scott and Karyn on Saturday. The Pittsburgh Public Theater performance was a lot less raunchier than the one we went to see at Point Park's, thankfully. The singing was really good and everyone gave a great performance.
As we were leaving the theater I heard "Hey, Levino!" coming from the direction of the street. I poked Jay and pointed toward where I heard the sound and we saw Larry Cervi sitting in a parked car beckoning us over. He stopped to see if he could gain standing room only tickets since everything was sold out. Hubby mentioned the fertility thing to Larry and I asked him if I was going to be backstage manager for my dance recital again. Larry looked confused and asked, "You did it last year?" I replied in the affirmative and he said, "Then yes. It's June 9." He didn't seem phased that I was in two dances this year instead of one like last year. At least I can plan well in advance for that very hectic day. If anyone wants to visit me at Gateway High School on June 9 I'd appreciate the company, I'll know more as the date gets closer if you're interested. Perhaps you can even watch me perform.
On Sunday we went over to blairhippo and valancy17's house to help them put together furniture. Jay ended up assembling three bookcases with some help from various people while I mainly ripped up the cardboard boxes they came in while talking with fireborn and Christine and occasionally keleyat. There was a game of Munchkin played while we waited for blairhippo to come back from IKEA. He ended up joining the game and winning it. Jay and I didn't get home until 9. Made it to bed by 11:00, didn't fall asleep until 11:30 (hence being tired now).
I now get to leave work! |
